We use natural ingredients wherever possible. That’s right, We moved all of our glitters to a new type of bio-degradable sparkle which is a special regenerated Celluloseis made from Eucalyptus tree extract!
Here are just a few of our very natural ingredients we love:
Shea Butter
Shea Butter is from the nuts of the shea tree, made from crushing the roasted Shea Nut and collecting the fat – it has been used as a cosmetic ingredient for centuries.
We use Shea Butter in our products for its moisturising effects as it restores the barrier between your skin and the outside environment, locking in moisture and deeply nourishing your skin. With a significant levels of vitamins A and E, meaning it promotes strong antioxidant activity.
Vitamins A and E help maintain the skin and keep it clear and healthy. They help prevent premature wrinkles and lines. Vitamin F acts as a skin protector and rejuvenator.
Shea Butter has between 7-12% unsaponifiables. For comparison, avocado oil, a well-known skin conditioner, has between 2-6%. This high level of unsaponifiables is one of the properties that makes shea butter so invaluable in treating the conditions listed above. Also, Shea Butter easily penetrates the skin allowing the skin to breathe and not clog pores!
Cocoa Butter
Cocoa beans are seeds from the cacao tree. These beans have been grown for more than 3,000 years and were loved among ancient populations, including the Mayan and Aztec civilizations.
To make cocoa butter, the seeds are fermented, cleaned and then roasted. At this point, the cocoa nibs produced are ground and about 54-58% of the nibs is cocoa butter.
Cocoa butter is an active ingredient in many skin care products as it remains solid at room temperature but melts at higher temps. We use this as piping on top of some of our Bath Blasters and we also use it to make our Bath Melts, as it makes an excellent skin moisturiser!
It’s a great source of natural antioxidants that are found in cocoa beans, saturated fats are beneficial for healing dry skin because they’re easily absorbed and remain on the skin for hours.
Argan Oil
This naturally occurring plant oil is derived from the kernels of the fruit of the argan tree.
Known for its benefits on skin and hair, we’ve decided to use it in Back to our Roots Shampoo Bar to make it really conditioning and hydrating!
Argan oil is traditionally used as treatment for acne and eczema. It contains high levels of fatty acids, linoleic acid which soothes skin and oleic acid which protects and conditions scalp, skin and hair.
Avocado Butter
Belonging to a subtropical tree which is a member of the Laurel family, avocado is now a new craze!
The butter is created from the blending of avocado and hydrogenated vegetable oils to produce a soft, off-white butter.
Avocados are a naturally nutrient-dense food and contain nearly 20 vitamins and minerals such as vitamins A, B, C and E. Also containing proteins, lecithin and potassium which help to condition and deeply moisturise the skin and hair. Because of this, we’ve made our new Avo Nice Hair Day Shampoo Bar with Avocado Butter!
